International Women’s Day is always an important date on the calendar for us as we continue to celebrate and advance women’s equality worldwide.
IWD is observed on the 8th March, but with our closest home fixture taking place on the 2nd March against Chelsea, and SheGulls in the Fanzone beforehand, we thought we would get the fundraising started in advance.
We have selected two charities to split all donations between equally.
As always we like to support locally whenever possible and what more appropriate cause could we find than RISE and the incredible services they provide: https://www.riseuk.org.uk/
We have been fortunate to sign two players from Glasgow-based teams this season. Rachel McLauchlan is already a massive fan favourite for her work ethic and penchant for a goal. Caitlin Hayes is newer to the club, but everything she did at Celtic has rightly been lauded and she also looks set to be a name every supporter looks out for on the team-sheet. So we want to give back to the City of Glasgow by supporting Glasgow Women’s Aid: https://glasgowwomensaid.org.uk/

I have absolutely no idea how much money we can and will raise, but we will try our hardest and do what we can. Every donation will be counted and then paid directly to the two charities – the transactions will be documented (beyond any personal data) and I will create a post after the event to let everyone know how much was donated.
