Coach Sponsorship – Statement

As an official supporters’ group of Brighton and Hove Albion with a specific focus on the women’s team, we absolutely welcome the addition of Kissimmee as an away travel partner of the club.

Their support has allowed for the provision, at a subsidised rate, of fan transport for our upcoming matches in (and around) London, specifically:
8th December vs Chelsea
16th February vs West Ham*
16th March vs Tottenham Hotspur*
(* Dates subject to change.)

This is a marked change from last season, when only the Arsenal game on the final day saw travel provided through the club. It will mean that the only ‘London’ away game this season that won’t have had club arranged coaches was Arsenal, which is perhaps understandable due to the change in date and time of that fixture.

At SheGulls we have always pressed the need for arranged travel to away games, for safety, for comfort, and most of all, to give our incredible athletes the support they deserve. We felt a natural step up from a highly successful outing at the end of last season, was to provide travel for at least the ‘London’ area games this season. Bar Arsenal, which was slightly disappointing, but expected, this goal has been realised – and the club deserve a lot of credit for that.

As supporters we always want more, we want to push the boundaries, and in this instance that would mean an ongoing commitment to ‘London’ games, and the possibility of club arranged travel to games further afield. After all, the games in the capital are arguably the easiest for Brighton-based fans to attend. However, this all must be balanced against cost and uptake, amongst other factors.

On behalf of SheGulls, we’re always open to discussion about away travel with our supporters and indeed the club, but we also recognise the fact that this is an ongoing process and the answers may not always be the ones we want to hear. The key is communication in both directions.

I’ll just end by thanking you the fans because without you asking for away travel and ultimately using the services provided, it wouldn’t be happening. Things are improving, the club is listening, and we are all aligned in wanting to make our beloved team the best it can be, on and off the pitch.

Duncan
