SHEGULLS NEWS – STORE, STALLS AND MORE!

That’s right everybody – we have an online shop now! That plus more in a general SheGulls update below:

TL:DR – We need some funding to continue grow SheGulls.

Ok – why start our own store you ask?

Well – a multitude of reasons, but two in particular. Firstly, SheGulls requires funds. I already pay for the website, domain name, Canva Pro, X Premium, all promotional materials – and probably a couple of other things I’ve forgotten. We also have a dedicated team of volunteers who, like me, give up their time simply to help grow the women’s team fanbase. We know that this is not a profit-making endeavour, but equally we can’t put all the costs on to ourselves. So it’s very much a help us help you situation.

Secondly, we feel the women’s team is underrepresented in the merchandising arena at the moment. There are men’s team items, or Albion branded items, but almost nothing if you want to specifically display your fandom for our women. Of course we cannot use any intellectual property of the club, and rightfully so, but there are ways we can utilise SheGulls to fill in some of the current gaps.

I prefer the shop route rather than just asking kind people to donate their hard-earned money. God knows finances are tight for people right now. That way you buy something we designed and we receive a margin to help us. You get something – we get something.

If however, you would find it easier to donate directly to the cause (not everyone has room or need for more merch) – then you can do so via Ko-fi here: https://ko-fi.com/shegulls

Stalls

We have had the go ahead to have SheGulls tables for select WSL matches at the Broadfield this season – the first of which will be Leicester City on the 3rd November. We will be utilising the opportunity to spread the word about our supporters club and to grow our awesome community.

You’ll be able to come and meet the podcast crew, have a chat about the Albion, find out more about SheGulls and maybe even nab yourself a sticker!

We hope to produce flyers/leaflets, stickers etc, as well as securing a banner that will also be used during matches at Crawley. All of this costs money of course – and the stalls are one of the reasons we need to create revenue as discussed above.

I think the concept is great though, so many people either haven’t come across us on social media, or don’t use it – and we need a way to reach those people. Rather than approach you whilst you’re busy, or at an inconvenient time – this way you know we’re free, and if you fancy finding out more – you can do it on your own terms.

Other Business

  • We took on board your feedback about the podcast and we are now aiming to keep them to around 1 hour in length. Not saying we’ll never run over – but we’re trying!
  • Our ‘Songbook’ section of the website is now open, but we need fan submissions to grow the collection. If you know a chant/song sung at Albion women’s games – please drop them to us in an email or message via ‘contact us’ with the lyrics and tune.
  • I have decided to step back from match recaps slightly, in that I’m not going to be describing the physical action any longer. This is because there are plenty of websites, including the official Albion one, who do this already. Also, many of you are at the game or watching it on TV so that part was becoming slightly redundant. I will however be continuing with my notes on each game – my own take on the events if you will – which will hopefully have some of you nodding along or spitting out your tea in fury as it always has!

I think that’s all for now. I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who works on SheGulls, purely for the love of our club – the Podcast Team, Ben, Claire and Joe, Steve who heads up our Instagram account, and Jo Davies for being an all-round legend and our biggest cheerleader.
