Updates from today’s Brighton & Hove Albion Women’s Team press conference with Head Coach Dario Vidosic.
The vibe was very positive at today’s press conference with Dario, although he was quick to point out that improvement is still needed and admitted it will take more than the seven weeks they’ve had together to fully implement his style of football.
No real surprise there as Vidosic has mentioned multiple times that his desire is always to win the next game. There is a sense that winning is the job, and so there’s no real time to celebrate, particularly with games coming thick and fast.
In terms of Manchester City, he praised their team and coach, but was quick to point out that they prepare the same way each week, no more, no less, against any one opponent.
Probably the main news was the fact that, although there aren’t any specific injury concerns, there has been illness in the squad. Everyone was back in on Friday, but following a question I asked later about substitutions, it did sound like some players may have been affected by it more than others, which could have an impact on the weekend.
We couldn’t go without mentioning Kiko Seike’s hat-trick of course, and Dario, like me, thought her second goal was particularly outstanding from a team perspective. He said he’ll always encourage her (and others) to get forward and into goal scoring positions.
