Long-time Albion defender and former captain Victoria Williams has announced her retirement on Instagram.

As well as her long career within the game, and five years on the South Coast, Williams was a fantastic ambassador for Albion in the Community and deservedly recognised as a Community Champion by The Professional Footballers’ Association for her efforts.

It is our understanding that this announcement was made due to Williams accepting a post at The PFA which she will take up imminently.

On behalf of SheGulls and all Brighton & Hove Albion Women’s Team fans I would like to congratulate Victoria on her career and thank her for her services to football and dedication when playing for the Albion. We wish her the absolute best as she takes up her new role.
