This is of course absolutely fantastic news, but it is just the start of a very long road ahead. We will of course keep you updated here on SheGulls, and if it turns out that we can assist or support in any way then we’ll spread the call as far and as wide as possible.
UPDATE: 21/10/2023
The motion to explore bringing the Women’s team back to Brighton & Hove was passed in principal on the 19th October. As it stands details are sparse, but a report is expected to be prepared for review by the council’s Culture, Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Economic Development Committee. Time-frames have not been confirmed.
It should be noted that whilst the motion passed, several council members expressed concerns, ranging from the lack of available land to the potential challenges of the council and the football club working together.
More detail can be found on the specifics of the meeting here, reported by Sarah Booker-Lewis.
